The shoulder is made up of three bones:

  • the scapula (shoulder blade)

  • the humerus (upper arm bone)

  • the clavicle (collarbone)

Shoulder injuries are frequently caused by athletic activities that involve excessive, repetitive, overhead motion, such as swimming, tennis, pitching, and weightlifting. Injuries can also occur during everyday activities such washing walls, hanging curtains, and gardening.

A variety of shoulder problems can arise, Panhandle Ortho & Hands Dr. Lisa K. Longhofer will recommend an appropriate treatment for any shoulder problem you may be experiencing. Arthroscopy is sometimes the best solution.
